Your Current System Isn't Actually Smart.
It's Just Scheduled.
Most HVAC systems sold as "smart" are timers with a phone app. They turn on at 6am because you told them to. They don't know your solar is generating, that today's going to be warmer than yesterday, that your energy tariff spikes at 3pm, or that your family is home earlier than usual.
They react. They don't anticipate.
Thermal Dawn is built around a fundamentally different idea: your heating and cooling system should make decisions for you — optimising across solar generation, weather forecasts, energy tariffs, and your home's thermal behaviour — without you having to think about it.
Four Things Our AI Optimises Simultaneously

Your Solar Generation
Thermal Dawn monitors your solar output in real time and forecasts tomorrow's generation based on local weather data. Charging happens when your panels are producing — not when the grid is expensive.

Your Energy Tariffs
We ingest your tariff schedule automatically — time-of-use rates, peak windows, off-peak valleys, feed-in rates. The system charges thermal storage when electricity is cheapest and avoids drawing from the grid when it costs most.

Your Local Weather
Australian weather is unpredictable. Thermal Dawn pulls hyperlocal forecasts and adjusts charging depth accordingly — storing more thermal energy ahead of a cold front, less on a mild day. Your home is always prepared, never wasteful.

Your Home's Thermal Behaviour
Every home loses and retains heat differently. Over time, Thermal Dawn builds a model of how your specific home responds to temperature changes — how long it takes to warm up, when it starts losing heat overnight, how your insulation performs. This makes every decision more accurate, every month that passes.
Your System. Your Data. Your Rules.
Most HVAC manufacturers lock you into their ecosystem. Their app, their cloud, their subscription, their data. If they shut down their servers — or just stop updating the app — your "smart" system gets dumber.
We built Thermal Dawn differently.
Thermal Dawn ships with a local API from day one. Your data lives on your hardware, in your home. You're never dependent on our servers to run your heating and cooling.
The Three Open Integration Pillars
Home Assistant Native Integration
Thermal Dawn is designed to work with Home Assistant out of the box — no community workarounds, no Modbus adapters, no reverse engineering. Full local control, full sensor visibility, full automation capability. If you already run Home Assistant, Thermal Dawn slots straight in.
Open API
Every data point Thermal Dawn measures — flow temperature, return temperature, thermal store level, solar input, energy consumption, COP — is accessible via our open API. Build your own dashboards, connect to your own automations, export to your own analytics. It's your data.
VPP-Ready
Thermal Dawn is architected to participate in Virtual Power Plant programs as they become available in your area. Your stored thermal energy can help balance the grid during peak demand events — and earn you credits in return. Opt in when you're ready, opt out any time.
You Don't Have to Be Technical to
Get the Most Out of It.
The open API and Home Assistant integration are there for people who want them. But Thermal Dawn's own app is designed for the household that just wants to be comfortable and see their savings — without configuring anything.
App Features:
Comfort Scheduling Set your preferred temperatures by time and zone. The system handles everything else.
Real-Time Energy Dashboard See your solar input, thermal store level, grid draw, and estimated savings updated live.
Savings Tracker Running total of what you've saved versus grid energy costs. Satisfying to watch.
Forecast View See what the system is planning for the next 24 hours and why — solar forecast, tariff windows, expected charging schedule.
Remote Control Override the system from anywhere. Heading home early? Bump the temperature up from your phone before you leave the office.
Alerts and Diagnostics Proactive notifications if anything needs attention, before small issues become expensive ones.

The System You Buy Today Is Not the System You'll Have in Two Years.
Thermal Dawn receives over-the-air firmware updates continuously. New tariff integrations, improved forecasting models, new VPP partnerships, expanded Home Assistant capabilities — all delivered automatically, with no technician visit required.
This is infrastructure built to improve, not degrade. While a lithium battery loses capacity every cycle, Thermal Dawn's intelligence compounds — getting smarter about your home, your habits, and Australia's evolving energy market with every update.
We Flag Problems Before They Become Breakdowns.
Thermal Dawn's remote monitoring tracks system performance continuously — flow rates, temperatures, pressure, compressor behaviour, electrical draw. Our algorithms detect when something is trending outside normal parameters and send you an alert before it becomes a fault.
For our pilot customers, our engineering team also has visibility into system performance — which means we can often diagnose and resolve issues remotely, without a call-out. And because Thermal Dawn uses standard hydronic components serviceable by any licensed HVAC technician, you're never locked into expensive proprietary repairs.

Your Home's Data Stays in Your Home.
Thermal Dawn's core intelligence runs locally. Your heating and cooling decisions are made on hardware in your home — not on a cloud server that could go offline, change its terms, or get acquired.
We collect anonymised, aggregated performance data — with your permission — to improve our forecasting models across the Thermal Dawn fleet. You can opt out entirely. You can export everything. You can see exactly what we hold.
No selling your data. No third-party advertising. No subscription required to use the system you paid for.
